Requirements for the MLIS degree have been reduced from 42 to 36 credits. Students currently in the program may choose to graduate on completion of 36 credits, but:
1. You must still complete all required courses
2. You must be registered for at least 1 URI credit or 1 credit hour of CRG 999 at the time you graduate. See http://www.uri.edu/gsadmis/graduate_manual/registration.html#section440 for additional information.
3. The next comps exam is scheduled for July 14. Please make sure you have submitted your Nomination for Graduation form to the Student Affairs Office as the Graduate School's deadline of June 4th is firm.

GSLIS 2012 Summer Comps Update
Students who are preparing to take summer comps on Saturday, July 14, are encouraged to view the GSLIS website: (http://www.uri.edu/artsci/lsc/Academics/comps.html)
for Strategies on Studying, Taking the Exam, and Practice Exams.
The exam will be held in Chafee Hall, Room 244, and will
begin at 9:00 a.m. Please arrive early to give yourself enough time
to “settle in.” Professor Yan Ma will be proctoring
the exam.

Graduate Breakfast Reception
In honor of Commencement, graduates are cordially invited to a breakfast reception in Rodman Hall, May 19, from 10:00 a.m. until noon.
We will provide a light continental breakfast for those who arrive early, the rest is casual. Bring family and friends and drop by to gather with fellow graduates and unwind from a long drive.

Kappa Delta Pi Initiates
Congratulations to Jennifer M. Cohen, Joanne M. Gongoleski, Eric R. Maynard, Cynthia A. Proffitt, Matthew J. Quilitzsch, Tara N. Quilitzsch, and Laura Gladding. On Monday evening, April 9th, these seven students were inducted into the IOTA SIGMA Chapter of KAPPA DELTA PI, the International Honor Society in Education.
Professor Cheryl McCarthy had the distinct honor of recognizing Laura Gladding as the 2012 recipient of the Library and Information Studies Outstanding Masters Degree Student Award.

Spring Comps March 31, 2012
Spring comps will be held on Saturday, March 31, 2012, in Rodman Hall, room 109, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Professor Cheryl McCarthy will be proctoring the exam.
Students who are planning to graduate in May must submit a Nomination for Graduation form, which can be found on the GSLIS Sakai site. It must be clearly filled out and returned to the GSLIS Student Affairs Office prior to the deadline of Friday, February 3rd. The Nomination form is all that is necessary to register you for the comps. There are no fees.
Please remember that an up-to-date Program of Study is a graduation requirement. If you have diverted from your plan of study, you must contact your advisor to fill out a new form.If you are on campus, you are welcome to stop by the Student Affairs Office to drop off your Nomination form. If mailing, please use the following address:
