Libraries and the Information Marketplace
Instructor: Pablo Sandoval
This course provides an introduction to the relationship between commercial firms ("vendors") and the libraries that buy their goods and services. After a brief historical examination of this relationship, case studies and negotiation simulations will introduce students to the types of interactions that librarians have with these firms. (Special attention will be paid to current vendor-library disputes.) The class will also highlight some of the career opportunities available to M.L.I.S. graduates within private industry.
