Spring Comps March 31, 2012

Spring comps will be held on Saturday, March 31, 2012, in Rodman Hall, room 109, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Professor Cheryl McCarthy will be proctoring the exam.

Students who are planning to graduate in May must submit a Nomination for Graduation form, which can be found on the GSLIS Sakai site. It must be clearly filled out and returned to the GSLIS Student Affairs Office prior to the deadline of Friday, February 3rd. The Nomination form is all that is necessary to register you for the comps. There are no fees.

Please remember that an up-to-date Program of Study is a graduation requirement. If you have diverted from your plan of study, you must contact your advisor to fill out a new form.If you are on campus, you are welcome to stop by the Student Affairs Office to drop off your Nomination form. If mailing, please use the following address:

GSLIS Scholarship applications due by February 15, 2012

The GSLIS faculty encourage qualified students to apply for the following scholarships, to be awarded for the fall 2012 semester:

The Betty Fast Scholarship: to recognize students in the GSLIS program who show excellence in their academic work, strong potential in library leadership, and a commitment to youth services in school or public libraries. $1,000. The Elizabeth Futas Scholarship: recognizing a student in the GSLIS program whose academic excellence, strong potential in library leadership, and commitment to professional development, ethics, and service reflects the spirit of Dr. Futas. $2000. The Frank Iacono Scholarship: Recognizes a student with a strong commitment to outreach. It is supported by donations to the GSLIS General Scholarship Endowment from Mr. Iacono's family, friends, and colleagues. $500. Application information: http://www.uri.edu/artsci/lsc/Admissions/iacono.html

2012 Spring Comps

Comps Exam results are in the mail!

Just a quick note to let everyone who took the November comps know that letters were placed in the mail on November 30th and should be arriving at your designated locations the early part of December.

If you have not received official notification by then, please feel free to contact the Student Affairs Office (401) 874-2878.

Students scheduled to take the fall comprehensive exam are reminded to visit the GSLIS Sakai site (Student Guide). This site offers you detailed information about preparing for the comps, test-taking procedures, as well as previous exams. It's a great opportunity to organize study groups on line and "converse" with other students through a chat room.

2011 Fall Comp Announcement

Fall comps will be held on Saturday, November 19, in Rodman Hall, room 109, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Professor Donna Gilton will be proctoring the exam.

Students who are planning to graduate in December 2011 must submit a Nomination for Graduation form, which can be found on the GSLIS Sakai site. It must be clearly filled out and returned to the GSLIS Student Affairs Office prior to the deadline of Wednesday, September 28.

Please remember that you also must have successfully completed all of the courses listed on your approved Program of Study. If you have diverted from your original plan of study, you must contact your advisor to fill out a new form.
